Function

Specifies the type of hard drive. Settings for this option are User, Auto, CD-ROM,ATAPI Removable, Other ATAPI, IDE Removable, and None.

Determines LBA mode control. Set to Enabled (default) unless directed to change it by a Dell technical support representative.

Determines the number of sectors per block during multiple-sector transfers. If Type is set to User, set Multi-Sector Transfers to 2 Sectors, 4 Sectors, 8 Sectors, 16 Sectors, or Disabled (turns off the feature).

Determines the method of moving data to and from the IDE drive. Options include PIO modes 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4. The PIO modes can improve the performance of a hard drive. (The higher the PIO number, the faster the transfer; most newer drives support PIO 4.) For the optimum transfer mode, set Type to Auto.

Sets the Ultra DMA mode for the drive. Options are Disabled (default), Mode 0, Mode 1, Mode 2, Mode 3, or Mode 4.

Function

Configures the floppy drive interface. Options are Enabled (default) and Disabled.

Selects the floppy disk type from Not Installed, 360 KB 5 1/4", 1.2 MB 5 1/4", 720 KB 3 1/2", 1.44/1.25 MB 3 1/2", or 2.88 MB 3 1/2".

Protects a floppy disk from being written to when set to Enabled. When this option is set to Disabled (default), the floppy disk is not protected unless the write-protect tab is in place.
