DVD Setup Menu

DISC MENU

Selects the preferred disc menu language for DVD playback.

Default setting: ENGLISH

Use the 5/∞ keys to select a language and press ENTER to confirm.

Note

For some discs, selection can be made using the DVD menu. In this case, press MENU to display the DVD menu screen and then make your selection.

PARENTAL

Default setting: 8 ADULT

Some DVDs may have a parental level assigned to the complete disc or to certain scenes on the disc. This feature lets you set a playback limitation level.

The rating levels are from 1 to 8 and are country dependent. You can prohibit the playing of certain discs that are not suitable for your children or play certain discs with alternative scenes for certain discs.

1Press 5/to highlight a rating level for the disc inserted and press ENTER.

To disable parental controls and have all discs play, select 8 ADULT.

2Use the numeric keypad (0-9) to enter the six-digit password (see page 50).

DVDs that are rated above the level you selected will not play unless you enter the six-digit password.

Note

VCD, SVCD, and CD have no level indication, so the parental control function has no effect with these types of discs. This also applies to most illegal DVD discs.

Some DVDs are not encoded with a rating even though the movie rating may be printed on the disc cover. The rating level feature does not work for such discs.

PBC

Default setting: ON

The Play Back Control feature is applicable for VCD/SVCD only. It allows you to play Video CDs (2.0) interactively, following the menu on the display.

ON – The index menu (if available) will appear on the TV when you load a VCD/ SVCD.

OFF – The VCD/SVCD will skip the index menu and playback directly from the beginning.

MP3/JPEG NAV

Default setting: WITHOUT MENU

MP3/JPEG Navigator can only be set if the disc is recorded with a menu. It allows you to select different display menus for easy navigation.

WITHOUT MENU – Displays all the files contained in the MP3/Picture disc.

WITH MENU – Displays the folder menu of the MP3/Picture disc.

Note

This DVD system can only display 650 files/folder in the directory.

VR LIST

Default setting: ORIGINAL LIST

There are two ways to play back a disc in VR (Video Recording) format: ORIGINAL LIST and PLAY LIST. This feature is not available with non-VR format discs.

ORIGINAL LIST – Select this to play the originally recorded titles on the disc.

PLAY LIST – Select this to play the edited version of the disc. This feature is only available when a play list has been created.
