Unit Care

The precision parts in this unit are readily affected by the environment, especially temperature, humidity, and dust. Cigarette smoke also can cause malfunction or breakdown.

To clean this unit, wipe with a soft, dry cloth.

Never use alcohol, paint thinner or benzine to clean this unit.

Before using chemically treated cloth, carefully read the instructions that came with the cloth.

Observe the following points to ensure continued listening and viewing pleasure.

Dust and dirt may adhere to the unit’s lens over time, making it impossible to record or play discs.

Use the DVD lens cleaner about once every year, depending on frequency of use and the operating environment. Carefully read the lens cleaner’s instructions before use.

Do not place the unit on amplifi ers or equipment that may become hot. The heat can damage the unit.

The unit should not be installed or operated near large magnets or electromagnetic devices. Such devices can damage pre-recorded VHS recordings.

Do not place any heavy objects on top of the unit.

The unit should not be mounted in a vertical position. It’s designed to operate in the horizontal position.

Select a position with good ventilation when installing the unit. Do not block the cooling fan on the rear of the unit.

Cleaning the video heads

Dirt on the video heads can cause poor recording and play.

If the picture does not improve, use an optional head-cleaning cassette. If the problem persists, seek advice from a qualifi ed service person.

Some optional accessories may not be available in some countries.

Before moving the unit, ensure the disc tray and cassette compartment are empty.

Failure to do so will risk severely damaging the disc and the unit.

Cautions about condensation

Condensation can cause unreliable playback of VHS recordings. Condensation may form in the following cases,

The unit is brought from cold surroundings into a well-heated room. The unit is suddenly brought from cool surroundings, such as an air-

conditioned room or car, to a place which is hot and humid. During rainy seasons.

In any of the above-mentioned conditions, do not operate the unit for at least 2 hours. The unit is not equipped with a moisture sensor.

The manufacturer accepts no responsibility and offers no compensation for loss of recorded or edited material due to a problem with the unit or recordable media, and accepts no responsibility and offers no compensation for any subsequent damage caused by such loss.
