9. Connect a PC.

If a PC will be connected directly to the DVR, connect it at the Ethernet port on the rear of the DVR using a T568A/B cross-over shielded CAT5 cable with shielded RJ-45 connectors (not supplied). The maximum length is 328 feet (100 m).

If the PC will be communicating with the DVR through an external modem rather than over a network, connect a Pelco DX7000EM External Modem to the DVR’s COM 1 port. Connect the modem to a phone jack. This will let you dial up the DVR to configure the unit or view live and recorded video. Response will be a little slower than over a network.

If connecting to a network, go to step 11.
