Checking the hour meter

This unit displays the drum usage time on the DRUM HOUR METER item of the TOP MENU.

Symptom The power does not come on. The cassette cannot be loaded.

Action

Is the AC adapter correctly connected?

Is the cassette indicator lit? If so, a cassette is already loaded.

Please use it as a guide for regular maintenance. Page 7

Unable to record.

The operation buttons of the main unit do not work.

Please unload the cassette first. Push the center of the cassette and make sure that the cassette enters levelly.

Is the slide of the cassette set to "REC"? Please set it to "REC" if it is at the "SAVE" position.

Is the OPERATION LOCK item of the SYSTEM (2/2) menu set to ON? Please set it to OFF so that the operation buttons of the main unit can to be used. During REMOTE mode, please use the LOCAL function menu item to select the buttons to be rendered operable.

The 9 PIN REMOTE or SERIAL RE- MOTE cannot be engaged with the REMOTE SEL switch.

Noise appears on the playback screen. Playback audio is disrupted.

During DV signal input, the time codes are not recorded correctly.

After holding down the EJECT button of the main unit for 2 sec- onds or longer, the menu screen does not appear.

Video and sound are distorted for a few seconds after starting play- back.

The wireless remote controller does not work at all.

Is the REMOTE item of the REMOTE (1/2) menu set to OFF? To use the 9 PIN REMOTE or the SERIAL REMOTE, please set it to ON. When the OPERATE LOCK item of the SYSTEM(2/2) menu is set to ON, the REMOTE SEL switch will not function.

Is the tape damaged? Please replace the cassette.

Is the head dirty?

Please clean it with the dedicated head-cleaning tape.

Is the TC DUPLICATE item of the TIME CODE menu set cor- rectly?

Is a cassette loaded? Before attempting to display the menu screen with the EJECT button, please remove the cassette.

This occurs if the signal system of the playback tape is different from the NTSC/PAL setting.

Is the REMOTE SEL switch on the main unit set to WIRE- LESS?

Are the batteries exhausted?
