5Using the Remote Control

Remote control functions

Note :

If the remote control does not work, press the TV button and try again.

Button name

Function

1. POWER

Turns the TV ON and OFF.

2. LED

Blinks when the remote control is sending a

 

 

signal to the TV or is being programmed.

3. SET

Starts all programming sequences.

 

 

4. AUX

Puts the remote control in AUXILIARY mode

 

 

(to operate a programmed device).

 

 

5. CBL

Puts the remote control in CABLE mode

 

 

(to operate a programmed cable TV set-

 

 

top box) or SATELLITE mode (to operate a

 

 

programmed satellite TV set-top box).

 

 

6. TV

Puts the remote control in TV mode

 

 

(preprogrammed to operate this TV).

7. VCR

Puts the remote control in VCR mode (to

 

 

operate a programmed VCR).

 

 

8. Channel

Select a channel or input a password.

Numbers

 

 

 

9. 100/ENT

a. In TV mode, enters a channel number

 

 

greater than 100.

 

 

b. In other modes, functions as ENTER.

 

 

 

10.

– /INPUT

a. In TV mode, enters a decimal point for

 

 

DTV channel numbers.

 

 

b. In other modes, functions as INPUT.

 

 

11. VOL (+/–)

Turns the volume up/down.

 

 

 

12.

CH RTN

Tunes the previously viewed channel.

 

 

(Will not switch between TV and DTV

 

 

channels).

13.

CH (+/–)

Changes the channel up/down.

 

 

14. MUTE

Turns the sound ON and OFF.

 

 

 

15.

INFO

Displays the current video and audio source

 

 

(and channel number in TV mode).

 

 

 

16.

MENU

Opens the on-screen display (OSD) menus.

 

 

 

17.

ENTER

Selects options in the menus.

Navigate the menus.

 

 

 

19.

EXIT

Closes a menu or program guide, or exits

 

 

the device.

 

 

 

20.

GUIDE

Turns the program guide ON and OFF in

 

 

DTV mode (see page 30).

 

 

 

21.

MTS / Play

a. In TV mode, toggles among STEREO,

 

 

SAP, and MONO audio.

b. In DTV mode, toggles among ENGLISH, FRENCE, and SPANISH OSD languages.

c. In other modes, plays the CD player, DVD player, or VCR.
