CAM mode: Press the DATE/DISP. button on the camcorder to switch the display.

VIDEO mode: Press the DATE/DISP. button on the camcorder or DISPLAY AY button on the remote control to switch the display.

When a recorded tape is in the camcorder during the VIDEO mode, "SEARCH" appears in the viewfinder or on the LCD monitor. (See "Date Search" on page 51 .)

See "Using Memory" on page 51.

Note: The linear time counter with the memory feature and "SEARCH" in the viewfinder or on the LCD monitor can also be displayed on the connected television.

Note: If the LCD monitor is opened or closed (the picture is switched) during playback, the on-screen display in the picture will disappear for about one second, and then reappear again.

Setting the Date and Time

Take the time to set the date and time now. The date and time can be recorded on your tapes to act as a handy reference when viewing them later. Use the following procedure to set up the display for the current dote and time,

Note: Be sure to insert the clock battery before setting the date and time. Although the date and time can be set

without the clock battery inserted, they will disappear when the battery providing power to the camcorder is removed.

Note: If you leave the powered camcorder for 10 minutes without a cassette inserted when the date has not been set or the clock battery is dead, the camcorder demonstration mode will start. To cancel the demonstration mode, disconnect power from camcorder and reconnect it, or insert a cassette.

Make sure that the current time is displayed correctly before you start filming.

1 Load the battery. ("Camcorder Power Sources", p17.)
