Trouble	Checks and Adjustments
Tape stops during	•	Time-counter memory might be on. Whenever an “M”
rewind or fast		appears with the time-counter display, the camcorder
forward		stops rewinding (or fast forwarding) when counter
		reads M 0:00:00. Press VCR 55 or VCR 66 again to
		continue rewinding or fast forwarding, or press
		COUNTER R/M to turn off the memory-stop feature.
Camcorder remains in	• Press PLAY/PAUSE to return to normal playback.
pause mode
Dew indicator flashes	•	If the dew indicator ( ) flashes in the viewfinder,
in viewfinder		there is moisture in the camcorder. Wait until indicator
		no longer appears before operating the camcorder.
Poor auto-focus	•	Subject is dark or behind glass. Auto-focus may not
operation		work under these conditions. Rotate AE dial to MAN
		and focus manually. See pages 36-37.
	• Subject is not in center of viewfinder or two subjects
		are at different distances. Rotate AE dial to MAN and
		focus manually. See pages 36-37.
	• Lens is smudged, and image appears unfocused.
Viewfinder displays	• Lens is smudged and image appears unfocused.
are out of focus	• Eyepiece focus control is misadjusted.
	•	The small C (color) and B (brightness) controls on the
		bottom of the viewfinder control the color and bright-
		ness of the viewfinder. These controls are set at the
		factory and should require no adjustment. If the color
		or brightness every does need adjustment, carefully use
		a plastic screwdriver and make the adjustments with
		caution to prevent damaging the miniature controls.

Picture is too dark or	• For best results, only use higher shutter speeds
