DVD/Video CD Operation

SOURCE

DVD and video CD operations can be performed from both the remote control unit and the main unit (except for some operations). This section mainly describes operations from the remote control unit. For instructions on operating using the buttons on the main unit, see page 42.

A separately sold monitor is required to view DVDs and video CDs.

Play Position Memory Function:

Even if you turn power off or switch the Ignition Key to OFF during playback or change the source, playback will continue from the point where playback stopped when the power is turned ON again.

When using the remote control unit

Tips To operate a DVD or video CD, set the selector switch on the rear of the remote control unit to the “AUDIO” side.

Reading this manual

These indicate the discs for which the function can be used.

DVD

Stopping playback (PRE-STOP) Video CD

Press the stop button during playback to stop playback. That position is stored in the memory.

1 Press the button once during playback. “PRE-STOP” is displayed.

Caution • Not all functions will operate for every DVD. See the individual DVD’s instructions for details on the features supported.

Fingerprints on a disc may adversely affect playback. If a problem occurs, remove the disc and check for fingerprints on the playback side. Clean the disc if necessary.

When using the remote control, be careful to press one button at time. Pressing multiple buttons at the same time may cause erroneous operation.

If you switch the power or Ignition Key OFF or change sources during playback, playback will continue where you left off when you resume playback.

If you try to perform an invalid operation (based on the type of disc being played), the following mark is displayed on the monitor screen:

1Press the button on the main unit. The movable display will open.

Insert a disc with the label side facing up.

2 Insert a disc with the label side facing up.

The disc will be pulled into the unit automatically. The movable display will close and playback will begin. When a disc is already inserted, press the SOURCE button to switch to the disc mode.

3 To eject the disc, press the button on the main unit.

NOTES

If the disc does not eject, press an hold the button again for more than 3 seconds with the movable display open.

The reverse side of a double-sided DVD will not be played automatically.

Remove the disc, turn it over, and reinsert it.

DO NOT insert discs containing maps for the navigation system. Doing so could result in damage.

“DISC ERROR” appears on the monitor display if a non-compatible disc is loaded, if the disc is loaded upside-down or if the disc is scratched or dirty. Press the button on the main unit to open the display and remove the disc.
