*When connecting a unit in the Roland MT series, you don’t need to switch off Local Control. MT units transmit Local Off messages when their power is switched on. If you first switch on the FP-5, then the MT-series device, Local Control is automatically switched off on the FP-5.

button.

2.Press the [-] or [+] button to switch Local Control on and off.

Setting the MIDI Out Mode

By setting the MIDI Out Mode, you can select to have a more suitable (to the external MIDI device) selection of MIDI data be output from the MIDI Out connector when you make tone changes on the FP-5.

Four settings for the MIDI Out Mode are available.

“MIDI Out Mode 1” is the power-up default setting.

MIDI Out Mode 1

 

This setting is suitable for the connection of

 

sequencers. The MIDI information (for exam-

 

ple: Bank select, Program Change, Settings of

 

Effects, and so on) is output from the MIDI

 

Out connector when you make a tone change

 

on the FP-5.

MIDI Out Mode 2

 

This setting is suited for connecting to a sound

 

module. The MIDI information (for example:

 

Bank select) is not output from the MIDI Out

 

connector when you make a tone change on

 

the FP-5.

 

 

3

MIDI Out Mode 3

 

You can transmit performance data recorded

 

with the FP-5.

 

Additionally, the MIDI messages that are out-

 

put have the same content as those in MIDI

 

Out Mode 1.

MIDI Out Mode 4

 

The MIDI messages that are output have the

 

same content as those in MIDI Out Mode 3.

 

However, these are not transmit to FP-5’s

 

sound module.

 

Additionally, the local control is switched to

 

off (p. 50).
