The master remote is located typically on the end of an armrest. The other components are located inside the power base.

Joystick

Thejoystickcontrolsthedirectionandspeedofthepowerchair.Whenyoumovethejoystickfromtheneutral(center)position, theelectromagneticbrakewillreleaseandallowthepowerchairtomove.Thefurtheryoupushthejoystickfromitsneutral position,thefasteryourpowerchairwillmove.Whenyoureleasethejoystickandallowittoreturntotheneutralposition,you engagetheelectromagneticbrake.Thishelpsthepowerchairdecelerateandcometoacompletestop.Youcanalsousethe joystickcontrolpoweractuators.

WARNING! If your power chair begins to move in an unexpected manner, immediately release the joystick. Unless the joystick is damaged, this action should stop your power chair.

Out Of Neutral At Power Up

YourpowerchairjoystickisequippedwithOutOfNeutralAtPowerUp(OONAPU).Ifyoupowerupthesystemandthe joystickisnotintheneutralposition,thesystemstatuslightflashesrapidlyforeitheraslongasthejoystickisoutoftheneutral positionorfiveseconds.Ifthishashappenedandtheallthesegmentsonthebatteryconditionmeterareflashing,youmayhave setafaultcode.See“FaultCodes.”

Keypad

The keypad is located directly in front of the joystick. It contains keys that you will use to control your power chair. See figure 32.
