NOTE:

The DEFINITY Extender modules use the CTS line for flow control. When the internal buffer is 32 characters from full, the CTS line is turned off. While CTS is off, up to an additional 32 characters can be transmitted without any loss of data. If hardware flow control is not enabled or if a cable without the CTS line connected is used, characters will be lost when this buffer overflows.

The DEFINITY Extender modules use the DCD line to indicate whether or not the modules have made a connection. When this line is on, the modules have made connection.
