Optical Communication Unit Power Requirements

Use the AC adaptor that comes with the Optical Communication Unit to power it. Be sure to connect the AC adaptor to the Optical Communication Unit before starting a data communication operation with a Pocket PC Terminal. Power is supplied to the Pocket PC Terminal from the Optical Communication Unit.

Using the Optical Communication Unit

1. Plug the AC adaptor into a wall outlet.

2. After confirming that the Optical Communication Unit is turned off, plug the AC adaptor cord into the AC adaptor jack on the top of the unit.

3.After confirming that both the Optical

Communication Unit and your computer are turned off, use an RS-232C cable (DT- 881RSC, DT-882RSC, DT-883RSC, DT-887AX) to connect the RS-232C interface on the top of the Optical Communication Unit (remove the interface cap) to your computer.

Leave the interface cap in place if you do not plan to use the RS-232C interface.

4. Turn on the Optical Communication Unit and your computer.

The power indicator on the Optical Communication Unit should light red at this time.

5. Mount a Pocket PC Terminal onto the Optical Communication Unit, making sure the IR port on the side of the terminal is in contact with the IR port of the Optical Communication Unit. This should cause the power indicator on the Optical Communication Unit to turn green and the charge indicator to light red, indicating that charging has started.
