OPERATION

TO MAKE DADO CUTS

A dado is a non-through cut and typically refers to a channel cut, both with the grain and across the grain. (The Ryobi part number for the dado set is 4650306.) DO NOT perform bevel dado cuts on this machine.

nUnplug the saw.

nRemove the blade guard assembly.

nRemove the throat plate and the saw blade but not the inner blade washer.

nMount the dado blades using blades and chippers appropriate for the desired width of cut.

nReinstall the outer blade washer and hex nut.

nMake sure the hex nut is fully engaged.

NOTE: The arbor must extend at least one full thread past a securely tightened arbor nut.

nWhen mounting dado blades, make sure both the inner blade washer and outer blade washer are used.

nReplace the throat plate with the optional Dado Throat Plate (#0131030330-35).

When ordering parts, always give the model number. Call 1-800-525-2579 for assistance.

WARNING:

Always use push blocks, push sticks, or featherboards when making dado cuts to avoid the risk of serious injury.

WARNING:

Do not use dado blades rated less than the speed of this tool. Failure to heed this warning could result in personal injury.

ADJUSTMENTS

WARNING:

Before performing any adjustment, make sure the tool is unplugged from the power supply and the switch is in the OFF position. Failure to heed this warning could result in serious personal injury.

To avoid unnecessary setups and adjustments, a good prac- tice is to check your setups carefully with a framing square and make practice cuts in scrap wood before making finish cuts in good workpieces. Do not start any adjustments until you have checked with a square and made test cuts to be sure adjustments are needed.

TO CHECK THE ALIGNMENT OF THE RIP FENCE TO THE BLADE

See Figure 30.

WARNING:

To reduce the risk of injury, always make sure the rip fence is parallel to the blade before beginning any operation.

nRemove the rip fence by depressing the trigger lock and lifting the locking handle.

nPlace a framing square beside the blade and move the rip fence up to the square. Take the dimension on the rip scale.

nMove the rip fence back and turn the framing square 180° to check the other side.

nIf the two dimensions are not the same, loosen the two screws on the fence and align it.

nRetighten the two screws.

nMake two or three test cuts on scrap wood. If the cuts are not true, repeat the process.

NOTE: The rip fence must be secure when the locking handle is engaged. The clamp screw on the rear of the rip fence is tightened by turning clockwise to increase tightness of the rear of the rip fence.
