8.When the pilot is lit, turn control knob counter- clockwise to heating level. The main burner should light.

9.To select the desired heat level, turn the tem- perature setting knob counterclockwise to between 1 & 5.

THERMOSTAT CONTROL OPERATION

FOR IR20LPT / IR30LPT: The thermostatic control used simply turns on and off the burner.

FOR BF20LPT / BF30LPT: The thermostatic control used modulates the flame size as the temperature gets closer to set point, then it turns off the burner upon reaching temperature.

The burner will cycle back on when room temperature drops below the set temperature. The control knob can be set to any heat level between 1 and 5. Selecting the HI setting will cause the burner to remain on.

Note: The thermostat sensing bulb measures the temperature of air near the heater cabinet. This may not always agree with room temperature (depending on housing construction, insulation location, room size, open air temperature, etc.). Frequent use of your heater will let you determine your own comfort levels.

The LED temperature indicator measures approximate room temperature around the heater.

Note: The LED temperature indicator DOES NOT operate with or control the thermostat setting of the heater.

TO TURN OFF GAS TO APPLIANCE

Shutting Off Heater

1.Turn control knob clockwise to the OFF posi- tion.

2.Turn off all electrical power to the appliance if servicing is to be preformed.

3.Turn off equipment shutoff valve.

SHUTTING OFF BURNER ONLY (PILOT STAYS LIT)

1.Turn control knob clockwise to the PILOT/IGN position.

INSPECTING BURNER

Check pilot flame pattern and burner flame pattern often.

PILOT FLAME PATTERN

Figure 21 shows a correct pilot flame pattern. Figure 22 shows an incorrect pilot flame pattern. The incorrect pilot flame pattern is not touching thermocouple. This will cause the thermocouple to cool. When the thermo- couple cools, the heater will shut down. If pilot flame pattern is incorrect, as shown in Figure 22:

Turn heater off (see To Turn OFF Gas to Appliance, page 11 for non-thermostat models or page 12 for thermostat models).

See Troubleshooting, pages 14 and 15.

BURNER FLAME PATTERN

Figure 23 shows a correct burner flame pattern. Figure 24 shows an incorrect burner flame pattern. If burner flame pattern is incorrect, as shown in Figure 24:

Turn heater off (see To Turn OFF Gas to Appli- ance, page 11 for non-thermostat models or page 12 for thermostat models).

See Troubleshooting, pages 14 and 15.
