Diagnostic Tests
•Select IPXping Test. This is a network layer test that you can run on Novell NetWare IPX networks. The switch sends IPX test packets to a specified network device. This works with devices that have an IPX address and are able to respond to an IPX test packet. Most end nodes using IPX will respond to this packet. You specify the remote device by its IPX address.
If the test passes, the switch's port, the network link, and the remote device are all working properly. If you are testing the transceiver module port, this also tests the transceiver that is installed in the switch.
If the test fails, you can test the switch using the “Testing the Switch Only” procedures on the previous page. You should also verify that the remote device is powered on and functioning properly, and that the cable is good.
If the switch passes its tests, but the network test (link test, Ping test, or IPXping test) fails, the problem is in the cabling, the remote device, or possibly the output circuitry of the switch's port.
