1.FSE system is properly installed and configured. Refer to the FSE Installa- tion Guide for details.

2.If the FSE system restore is to be performed on a Linux system, tar (tape archiving package) is installed on the system.

3. FSE is in the restore mode (using the commands fse – –stopand fse – – startrestore on the FSE server and FSE client systems).

4.Media with valid backup data (i.e. latest backup image) are available.

5.One drive is available for reading the data from backup media. The backup media is loaded/unloaded manually by administrator.

USER INTERACTION fserestore guides an FSE administrator through the whole restore procedure asking for answers to the raised questions and demanding confirmations.

fserestore then starts restoring data from the backup media. In case that multiple media were used for backup, FSE administrator is prompted to unload the backup medium and load another one when necessary. All backup media is loaded into the same drive during restore. The last (or only) backup media is inserted first

it contains the backup summary. Afterwards, backup media is inserted in the backup sequence: first media, second media, and so on.

ACTIVITY LOGGING fserestore records its progress report to the restore.log file (see section FILES).
