Product Highlights

Backwards Compatibility HP DAT tape drives are backward read-write compatible with two previous generations, thus:

DAT 72 also reads and writes DDS-4 and DDS-3

DAT 40 also reads and writes DDS-3 and DDS-2*

DAT 24 also reads and writes DDS-2 and DDS-1**

*NOTE: The DAT 40 hot-plug drive is an exception. This drive is read-write compatible with DDS-3 and read compatible with DDS-2.

**NOTE: The DAT 24 USB drive does not read or write DSS-1
