Chapter 2: Safety Considerations

Taking the time to read and observe all safety instructions will ensure many years of productive use from your DR LEAF and LAWN VACUUM and help you avoid injury. Please take a few moments to read the following guidelines for safely operating your new machine.

Preparing to Use the DR LEAF and LAWN VACUUM

Read these Safety & Operating Instructions and the engine owner manual before you use the DR LEAF and LAWN VACUUM. Become familiar with the controls, engine and service recommendations to ensure the best performance from your machine. Inspect the area in which you will be working. The site must be free of potentially hazardous obstacles (e.g., stones, glass and metal objects such as cans).

Pile sticks that you intend to chip separately and away from the vacuum site. Never operate your machine unless all hoses and covers are secured and in good condition. Objects can be thrown at high velocity through openings in hoses and the Collector Box.

Rotating Blades: Keep hands out of chipper and blower inlets as well as the lawn deck when the engines are running.

Do not allow people or pets near the machine when it is operating.

NEVER insert metal, glass, or objects other than wood into the chipper hopper. Be careful when vacuuming to avoid these materials.
