NOTE: Beforestarting,read the warm and cold starting proceduresbelow.

6.Insert keyinto ignition and turn key clockwiseto start positionand release keyas soon as enginestarts. Do not run starter continuouslyfor more than fifteen secondsper minute.If the enginedoes not start after several attempts,push chokecontrol in, wait a few minutesand try again. If engine still does not start, pullthe chokecon- trol out and retry.

WARMWEATHERSTARTING(50° F and above)

7.When engine starts,slowlypush choke control in untilthe engine begins to run smoothly.If the enginestarts to run roughly,pullthe chokecontrolout slightlyfor a fewsecondsand then continueto push the control in slowly.

The attachmentsand grounddrive can now be used.If the engine does not acceptthe load, restartthe engine and

allow it to warm up for one minuteusing the chokeas describedabove.

COLD WEATHERSTARTING(50° F and below)

7.When engine starts,slowlypush choke

control in untilthe engine begins to run smoothly.Continueto pushthe choke control in smallsteps allowingthe en- gine to accept small changes in speed and load, untilthe choke controlis fully in. If the engine starts to run roughly,

pull the chokecontrol out slightlyfor a few secondsand then continueto

push the control in slowly.This may requirean enginewarm-upperiod from severalsecondsto severalminutes,

dependingon the temperature. NOTE: In extremecold conditions,if

enginewill notstart you mayneedto dis- engagethe motiondrive belt as follows:

1.Besure parkingbrake is engaged.

2.Removeretainerspringfrom the drive belt tensionhandleto relievebelt ten- sion.

3.Start engineand allow it to warm up for three (3) minutes.

4.Shut-offengine and engageparking brake.

5.Engagedrive belt tensionhandleand replacethe retainerspring.

AUTOMATICTRANSMISSIONWARMUP

Beforedriving the unit in cold weather,

the transmissionshould be warmedup as follows:

1.Be sure the tractor is on levelground.

2.Placethe motioncontrol leverin

neutral.Releasethe parking brakeand let the brakeslowlyreturnto operating position.

3.Allowone minutefortransmissionto

warm up.This can be doneduring the enginewarm up period.

The attachmentscan be used during the engine warm-upperiodafter the

transmissionhas beenwarmed up and mayrequirethe choke controlbe pulled out slightly.

NOTE: If at a highaltitude (above3000 feet) or in cold temperatures(below32 F) the carburetorfuel mixturemay needto be adjustedfor best engineperformance. (See "TOADJUSTCARBURETOR"in the Serviceand Adjustmentssection of this manual).

PURGE TRANSMISSION

_CAUTION: Neverengage or disengage freewheelleverwhilethe engineis run- ning.

Toensureproperoperationand per- formance,it is recommendedthat the

transmissionbe purged beforeoperating tractorfor the first time.This procedurewill removeany trappedair insidethe trans- missionwhichmay havedevelopedduring shippingof your tractor.

IMPORTANT: Should your transmission require removalfor service or replace- ment, it should be purged after reinstall- ation beforeoperatingthe tractor.

1.Placetractor safely on levelsurface with engine off and parking brakeset.

2.Disengagetransmissionby plac- ing freewheelcontrolin disengaged position (See"TOTRANSPORT'in this sectionof manual).

3.Sitting in the tractorseat, start engine. After the engine is running, move throttlecontrolto slow position.Disen- gage parkingbrake.

4.Move motioncontrol leverto full

forwardpositionand hold for five (5) seconds.Move leverto full reverse

positionand holdfor five (5) seconds. Repeatthis procedurethree (3)times.

NOTE: Duringthis stepthere will be no movementof drive wheels.The air is being removedfrom hydraulicdrive system.
