Setting up the compact

The compact disc player provides two analogue and two digital outputs to allow you to choose the highest-quality method of connection to your system.

The 588 Compact Disc Player produces an extremely low-noise low-jitter electrical digital output, and this is the recommended method of connection to digital equipment.

Audio connections

The table opposite gives details of the alternative audio outputs.

The digital connections should be made with high quality 75Ω screened cable. Suitable cables are available from Meridian. We do not recommend using audio cables which do not have adequate shielding or the correct impedance, or cables intended for UHF applications, as these do not provide adequate shielding in the 1–30MHz region.
