MAINTENANCE

Kohler engine

The standard engine is not equipped with a pre-filter. As an option a pre-filter can be installed on the inside of the air filter cover.

1.Loose the two retaining knobs and remove the cover. If the engine has a pre-filter, it is mounted on the inside of the cover. Replace the foam filter or clean it with soap-water and squeeze it dry before assembly.

2.Clean the area around the filter element to prevent debris from getting in the engine when the element is removed.

3.Remove the filter element. Replace a dirty, bent or damaged element with a new one. Handle new element carefully; do not use if the sealing surfaces are bent or damaged.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Do not use compressed air to clean the filter element. Do not wash the filter element. Do not oil the filter element.

If the element is to be re-used, tap it against a fixed surface to remove dust.

4.Check the air cleaner base. Make sure it is secured and not bent or damaged. Also check the air filter cover for damage or improper fit. Replace all damaged air cleaner components.

5.Install the filter element. Check that it fits properly and that no air leaks occur.

6.Install the cover and tighten the knobs by hand.
