Exercise 2. Turning On the Instrument1Set the line-voltage switch on the rear panel to the correct voltage selection for 
your power source.
2Connect a power cord from a power source to the rear-panel connector of the 
mainframe.
3Set the rear-panel line switch to the ON position. 
CAUTION When the mainframe is set to the 115  VAC mode, use the supplied power cord. 
If you use an alternate power cord that cannot handle the power requirements 
of the instrument, the power cord may become warm or the instrument may 
not operate. 
4Set the front-panel power switch to ON. 
After a few seconds, you will see a graticule on the display and a softkey menu 
on the right side of the display. If the display is blank or if the message, 
Power-On Test Failed, appears at the top of the display, refer to 
Chapter3, “In Case of Difficulty” or to the optional Agilent 83480A, 54750A 
Service Guide.
