Quick Search

You can search a song from all songs in the iPhone/iPod without selecting an album, artist, etc.

1 Press and hold /ENTER for at least 2 seconds to activate the Quick Search mode.

2 Turn the Rotary encoder to select a desired song.

The selected song is played back immediately.

This function is effective only when Quick Search is ON, refer to “Setting the Quick Search ON and OFF” (page 8).

While in the search mode, if you press , or no operation is performed for 10 seconds, the search mode is canceled.

If many songs are in iPhone/iPod, it takes time to search for songs.

This function is inactive during repeat () playback.

Percent Skip Function

The unit is provided with a percent skip function for effective searching. In Playlist/Artist/Album/Podcast/Audiobook/Genre/Composer/Song mode, you can quickly target any song.

If there are 100 songs in your iPhone/iPod, they are divided into 10 groups using percentages (shown below).

Each press of the to the right will jump 10%, 20% and 100% in ascending order.

Each press of the to the left will jump 100%, 90% and 10% in descending order.

When the total number of list is less than 10, it will be skipped one by one.

Alphabet Skip Function

The default skip mode is alphabetic. Use this function to skip to the next number, symbol or letter (for example from A to B, B to C).

You can skip in reverse order such as B to A by pressing .

A list is skipped to the next page or next number, symbol or letter.

If the or is pressed and held, the display continuously changes.

Titles are listed alphabetically, and can be skipped every 200 titles. If there are fewer than 200 titles, titles beginning with the next alphabetical character are selected.

Up/Down Function

If you select an album and press and hold /ENTER in the search mode, this album will be played back repeatedly. To go to the previous or next Album, use the Up/Down function.

1 Press and hold /ENTER for at least 2 seconds to activate the Direct Up/Down mode.

2 Turn the Rotary encoder to select the desired Playlist/Artist/Album/Genre/Composer.

This function is effective only when Quick Search is OFF, refer to “Setting the Quick Search ON and OFF” (page 8).

If the song search mode was used to select a song, this function is inactive.

If an album is selected during an artist search, the Up/Down function can be used to play other albums by that artist.

If you listen to an episode from a selected podcast or audiobook, the episode can be changed by this operation.

This function is inactive during shuffle ( ) playback.

This function is available in USB AUDIO mode.

Search Position Memory

During iPhone/iPod playback, you can quickly return to the last- selected hierarchy level in the search mode.
