Chapter 5. OSD Operation

Accessing Switches and Computers

To access a computer, cascaded switch, or daisy-chained switch, double-click it; or, move the highlight bar to it, and then press [Enter].

If more than one user tries to access a KVM port at the same time, the first user to gain access controls the KVM port, while the other users can only view it. If the controlling user exits the KVM port, the second user gains control.

Single Level Installation

In a single level installation (see page 16) there are no additional switches cascaded or daisy-chained from the KM0832. The port list will show all the ports of the KM0832.

Cascaded Installations

In a cascaded installation (see page 19) the default port list will show a cascaded switch’s model number in the TYPE column next to its port number, and station note (if created; see CREATE STATION NOTE, page 110) in the NOTE column next to the model number.

Note: 1. You can cascade up to 3 levels of KM0832 and 1 level of non- KM0832 KVM switches.

2. You cannot daisy-chain additional switches from a cascaded switch.
