cannot connect both ports of a channel to an outside switch, you can connect one port to a switch and the other port to another device, thus daisy-chaining to make a public loop.

Note

The devices connected to one channel must all be the same speed: you cannot connect a

1-Gb device on Port 1 and a 2- Gb device on Port 2. However, you can connect 1-Gb devices to ports 1 and 2 and 2-Gb devices to ports 3 and 4.
