5 Installing Additional Memory
The two memory boards (Memory A and Memory B) are located on the System
board assembly, beneath the memory cage cover. Both memory boards are
required. Each board has sl ots for ei g h t DIMMs.
The following rules must be observed when adding memory:
• DIMMs are added four at a time - two per memory card. The memory
cards must be balanced.
• DIMMs are installed in banks, 1 through 4.
J1 and J2 of Memory A and B are bank 1
J3 and J4 of Memory A and B are bank 2
J5 and J6 of Memory A and B are bank 3
J7 and J8 of Memory A and B are bank 4
• DIMMs must be 64 or 256 Mbytes, EDO buffered TSOP 50 ns.
• DIMM types cannot be mixed in a bank.
