setting WPa/WPa2-Persona l (PsK)
Like WPA security, WPA2 is availa ble in WPA2-Persona l (PSK) mode�
Typically, WPA2-Personal (PSK) is the mode that w ill be used in a h ome
environment� Please ref er to the User Man ual for more infor mation about
wireless security a nd different ty pes of wireless security�
1� After you’ve set up your Ro uter, go to the “Secur ity” page under
“Wireless” and selec t “WPA/WPA2-Pers onal (PSK)” from the
“Security Mode” drop -down menu�
2� For “Authentication”, select “WPA-PSK ”, “WPA2-PSK”, or “WPA-
PSK + WPA2-PSK”� This setting will have to be ident ical on the
wireless clients that you set up� “WPA-PSK + WPA2-PSK” mode
will allow the Router to su pport clients running either WPA o r WPA2
security�
3� For “Encryption Technique”, selec t “TKIP”, “AES”, or “TKIP+AES”�
This setting will have to be identical on the wireless clie nts that you
set up�
4� Enter your pre-shared key (PSK)� This ca n be from eight to 63
characters and can b e letters, numbe rs, or symbols� This same
key must be used on all of the wireless c lients that you set up� For
example, your PSK might b e something like: “Sm ith family networ k
key”� Click “Apply Changes” to fi nish� You must now set a ll wireless
clients to match these s ettings�
IMPORTanT: Make sure your wireless computers are updated
to work with WPA2 and have th e correct sett ings to get prope r
connection to the Route r�
