setting MaC address filtering
The MAC address filter is a powerful se curity feature t hat allows you
to specify which comp uters are allowed on the network� A ny computer
attempting to access th e network that is not specified i n the filter list
will be denied access � When you enable this feature, you m ust enter
the MAC address of each client (computer) on your network to allow
network access to eac h�
To enable this feature, sele ct “MAC Address Fi ltering” and clic k “Enable
MAC Address Filtering” (1)� Nex t, enter the MAC ad dress of each
computer on your networ k by clicking in th e space provided (2) and
entering the MAC addres s of the computer you want to add to the list�
Click “Add” (3), then “Apply Chang es” (4) to save the set tings� You can
have a MAC-address-filte ring list of up to 3 2 computers�
note: You will not be able to delete th e MAC address of t he computer
you are using to access the Router’s adminis trative functions (the
computer you are using now)�
enabling the demilitarized Zone (dMZ)
The DMZ feature allows you to specify one computer on your n etwork
to be placed outside of the firewall� This may be necessar y if the firewall
is causing problems wi th an application such as a game o r video
conferencing applicati on� Use this featu re on a temporar y basis� The
computer in the DMZ is N OT protected from h acker attacks�
To put a computer in the DMZ , enter the last d igits of its IP add ress in
the IP field and selec t “Enable”� Click “Apply C hanges” for the ch ange
to take effect� If you a re using multiple static WAN IP addres ses, it is
possible to select whi ch WAN IP address t he DMZ host will b e directed
to� Type in the WAN IP address yo u wish the DMZ hos t to direct to, ente r
the last two digits of t he IP address of t he DMZ host compu ter, select
“Enable” and click “Apply C hanges”�
