SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

Read and follow manufacturer instruction s carefully. Follow all
local electrical codes during installation.All wiring must conform
to local and national electrical codes. Improper wirin g or
installation may damage thermostat.
Recognizesafety information. This is the safety--alert symbol .
When you seethis symbol on the equipmentand in the instruction
manual,be alert to the potentialfor personal injury.
Understand the signal words DANGER, WARNING, and
CAUTION. These words are u sed with the safety--alert symbol.
DANGER identifies the most serioushazards wh ich will result in
severe personal injury or death. WARNING signifies a hazard
which could result inpersonal injury or death. CAUTION isused
to identify unsafe practices which may result in minor personal
injuryor product and property damage.NOTE isused to highlight
suggestionswhich will result in enhan ced installation, reliability, or
operation.
Power
Note that all thermostats are dual po wered where batteries can be
installedor in the presence of R and C (24vac) are not required.
TwoAA batteries arefurnished with the product.
Models
There are 2 different models. The 5th and 6th letters of the part
number indicate the model. These 2 letters also appear on the
package and on the circuit board. Be sure to have the proper
thermostatfor the intended application.Models are:
AC --1--stagecool, 1--stageheat for AC systemsonly.
HP --1 --stag e cool, 2--stageh eat for either HP,o rA C with 2--stage
heat.
Use each only for its intended purpose. See Table 1.

INSTALLATION

Thermostat Location
Thermostatshould be mounted:
SApproximately5 ft. (1.5m)from floor.
SCloseto or in a frequentlyused room, preferablyon an inside
partitioning wall.
SOn a sectionof wall without pipesor duct work.
Thermostatshould NOT be mounted:
SCloseto a window, on an outside wall,or next to a door leading
tothe outside.
SExposedto direct light and heat froma lamp, sun, fireplace, or
other temperature--radiating object which may cause a false
reading.
SCloseto or in direct airflowfrom supply registersand return--air
grilles.
SInareas with poor aircirculation, suchas behind a door or in an
alcove.
Select Model
AC Model
(1--stage cool, 1--stageheat) is to be used for single stage heating
and/orcooling applications only.
HP Model
(1--stage cool, 2--stage heat) can be used with a single--speed heat
pump (HP), or an air conditioner(AC) with a 2--stage furnaceor
fan coil. Software Option 5 selects H P/AC operation. This
thermostat comes configured fro m the factory as a heat p ump
thermostat. Select AC in software Option 5 for AC operation .
