2) Distortion:
Correctsimages where shape relationships are disrupted so that they appear as they
should
3) Chromaticaberration:
Correctscolor fringing that arises around the image periphery
4) Color blur:
Correctsthe blue and red color blurring that can occur at the edges of very bright
areasin images
Thisinnovative technology ties together the lens information, camera lens system infor-
mation and image design in a comprehensive waythat could be achieved only by a truly
comprehensive camera manufacturer.
Atpresent, 29 EF lenses (lenses with built-in lens ID, focal length and distance informa-
tion) are supported.
Dependingon the EOSDigital cameraon which the lens is mounted, there are 2 modes
ofcorrection using DPP ver.3.2. In the latest models released in 2007 (EOS-1Ds Mark III,
EOS40D and EOS-1D Mark III), the lens ID and the focal length and distance information
are recorded assupplementary information in photographed RAW images. As a result,
these camerasmeet all the requirements for aberration correction. To use aberration
correction on these 3 models, simplycheck the boxes for the factors to be corrected in
the [Lensaberration correction] window.
On the EOS-1D MarkII N,EOS-1Ds Mark II, EOS-1D Mark II, EOS-1Ds, EOS-1D, EOS5D,
EOS30D and EOS Digital Rebel XTi/400D DIGITAL, the lens ID and focal length are
recorded assupplementary information in photographed RAW images, but the distance
information isnot recorded. On these cameras, when one checks the boxes in the [Lens
aberration correction] window for the factorsto be corrected in photographed RAW
images, aberration iscorrected on the assumption that the distance is set to infinity.
To correctaberration in DPP, open the [Lens aberration correction] window (editwindow
or editwindow tool palette [NR/Lens] tab> click the [Tune] button) and checkthe boxes
for each ofthe 4 correction factors to be corrected. The image is then corrected and the
