I. OVERVIEW 3
The Canon EOS-1DsMark III is a new, top-of-the-line, professional DSLR autofocus
camera with a 35mm full-frame, 21.1-megapixelCMOS sensor. It was developed in
parallelwith the totally new EOS-1D Mark III, so the cameras are similar in many
respects. For example, the operation procedure, LCD monitor, menu functions, and
playbackfunctions are all the same as those of the EOS-1D Mark III.
The main differencesreside in the 35mm full-frame sensor and related features of the
EOS-1DsMark III, such as the viewfinder optics and the top cover, although other dis-
tinctionswill be made in this white paper.
When the EOS-1DsMark III is compared to the camera it succeeds, the EOS-1DsMark II,
the differencesare much more substantial. The new camera has higher resolution,
better image quality(from 14-bit D/A conversion vs. 12-bit, and DIGIC III vs. DIGIC II),
