VI. SOFTWARE 28
AdditionalChanges in DPP Another new function thathas been developed links DPP with the new “Easy-PhotoPrint
EX” printing software for inkjetprinters. This allows the transfer of RAW images selected
in DPP directlyto Easy-PhotoPrint EX so that RAW images can be printed simply and at
high quality. The specificationsand procedures for using the new software are the same
asthe previous “Easy-PhotoPrint” software.
A[View imagesat high speed (moiré reduction off)] option has been added to the [High
quality] displaymode. This will prove useful for those who want slightly faster image display
when false color reduction isnot needed, because they do not use false color reduction
when viewing imagesin the Edit or Edit Image window.
The [Preferences] window hasbeen amended to include a
function for reducing the “blocknoise” and “mosquito noise”
thatparticular affects JPEG images when RAW images are
converted and saved in JPEG format. Thismakes it possible
to improve the image qualityparticularly when high compres-
sionrates are used.
DPP features:
•RAW image viewing/processing/editing software aimed primarily at amateur and
professionalusers who mostly shoot RAW images
•High-speed processing of RAW images
•Support for RAW images from almost all EOS Digital camera models
•Viewingand editingof JPEGand TIFF images
Linkswith Canon’s EOS software
•Window displays tailored to professional workflows
Extensiverange of image editing functions
•Real time display of image adjustments and comparison displays of edits
•Faithful, high-quality printing using links with Canon inkjet printers
•3 printing style specification functions
•RAW image conversion and saving
•Batch processing of large numbers of RAW images
In versionsup to DPP ver.3.1, thumbnail images that had
been dragged into a differentsequence in the main window
reverted to the originaldisplay sequence when DPP was
shutdown. In ver.3.2, this has been improved so that the
user’sthumbnail sequence is retained. With the addition of
a[Retain sortorder] checkbox in the [Preferences] window,
DPP hasbeen improved so that the current thumbnail
sequence isretained when DPP is shut down. By clearing
the [Retain sortorder] checkbox, users who prefer the
ver.3.1 specificationscan revert to the previous system
(in which the originalsequence is restored when DPP
shutsdown).
