[Focus Priority]: When the focus priority is activated, the camcorder records a photo only after the focus has been adjusted automatically. You can also select which AF frames to use.

[UAiAF Frames]: One or more AF frames out of the nine frames available are automatically selected and the focus is fixed on them.

[WCenter Frame]: A single focusing frame appears in the center of the screen and the focus is automatically fixed on it.

[BOff]: No AF frame will appear and the photo will be recorded immediately after you press j.

•When the recording program is set to [MFireworks], focus priority is automatically set to [BOff].

•When focus priority is activated, if face detection (069) is also acti- vated, the camcorder will focus on the face of the main subject (white face-detection frame) when one is detected.

[Focus Assistance]: When focus assistance is activated, the image at the center of the screen is magnified to help you focus manually (078).

•Using focus assistance will not affect the recordings. It will be cancelled automatically after 4 seconds or when you start recording.

[Auto Slow Shutter]: The camcorder automatically uses slow shutter speeds to obtain brighter recordings in places with insufficient lighting.

•Minimum shutter speed used: 1/30; 1/12 when the frame rate is set to [EPF24] or [z24F]; 1/15 when it is set to [oPF30].

•The auto slow shutter can only be activated when the recording pro- gram is set to [AProgrammed AE], but the setting will not change even

if you set the camcorder to mode.

•If a trailing afterimage appears, set the slow shutter to [BOff].

•If Y(camcorder shake warning) appears, we recommend stabilizing the camcorder, for example, by mounting it on a tripod.

[Wind Screen]: The camcorder automatically reduces the background sound of wind when recording outdoors.

•Some low-frequency sounds will be suppressed along with the sound of wind. When recording in surroundings unaffected by wind or if you want to record low-frequency sounds, we recommend setting the wind screen to [BOff Z].

[Microphone Attenuator]: Helps prevent audio distortions.

[OAutomatic]: The camcorder will automatically activate the microphone attenuator as necessary for optimal audio recording levels so high audio levels will not be distorted.
