ÆChoosing a data rate mode

Data rate modes include:

• average limited ‐ the most common type of data rate limitation.

In this mode, you specify the average data rate, and the codec tries to make sure that the file ends up at the requested average.

The codec varies the rate up or down to match the changing difficulty of the video.

Most CD‐ROM and QuickTime codecs work this way.
