Tips & Terminology
•The line‐in has a high resistance and a high impedance
Rifles
•A good distance to hold the rifle mic from one’s subject is no more than 1.5m
Shure Mixer
•The round dials on the mixer are called pots, which is an abbreviation of potentialitors
General
•CCD = Charge Couple Device: this is temporary info storage in the camera
•The higher the shutter speed, the less light that comes through
•The greater the shutter speed, the more distinct the frames are for playback. Manipulating the shutter is useful for manipulating the depth of field. (Depth of field used properly marks the difference between amateur videomakers and professionals).
•dB = the ratio of units of noise, which is measured in Dbs.
‐By using this you can make your scene lighter/darker than the limit; this is useful at night, like pumping it up to 12dB to lighten the scene (but it’s noisy because it’s manufactured).
‐Useful tip: use stockings behind the lens to help lighten (stretch them out across it). Use varying colours for varying effects.
