Specifying the Auto Focus Area (AF Area)

You can use the following procedure to change the Auto Focus metering area for shooting snapshots.

• When recording movies, the AF metering area is always “U Spot”.

 

 

Spot

This mode takes readings of a small area in the center of the image.

 

U

 

This setting works well with focus lock (page 90).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You can move the focus frame by using [8], [2], [4], and [6] to move

 

 

Free

the focus point and then pressing [SET]. To change the focus point

position, select “— Free” again and then use [8], [2], [4] and [6] to

 

 

 

 

 

 

select the position you want.

OWhen you half-press the shutter button while this setting is selected, the Tracking focus frame will follow the movement of the subject.

•“O Tracking” cannot be used in combination with the following features. Prerecord CS, some BEST SHOT scenes (Move Out CS, Move In CS, Multi-motion Image, Lag Correction, Expression CS, Baby CS, Child CS, Pet CS, Sports CS)

•“— Free” cannot be selected for the AF area while Face Detection is enabled.
