The TC-540 should be set to PULSE (see page 3.) If you live in a pulse or rotary dialing area, you can use TONE to access a long distance service (i.e. Sprint or MCI), bank by phone, or any other service that requires touchtone dialing. Press TONE * to temporarily change from pulse to tone mode after the line is connected.

1Dial your local telephone number and wait for the line to connect. (You dialed your call in pulse mode.)

2Press* on the handset or base keypad.

REPEAT

*TONE

3Dial the tone numbers. This could be a special service or access number.

4Hang up and the TC-540 automatically returns to the pulse mode.
