DISTINCTIVE RING

If you subscribe to a distinctive ring service from your local telephone company, the TC-540 automatically routes calls to specific mailboxes. The TC-540 answers calls using distinctive ring as follows:

Normal ring = Outgoing message for

MAILBOX 1

Double ring = Outgoing message for

MAILBOX 2

Triple ring = Outgoing message for

MAILBOX 3

To leave messages in other mailboxes callers may press * and Mailbox 1, 2, or 3 during or after the outgoing message.

PERSONAL MESSAGE

The outgoing message in Mailbox 2 or 3 can be used as a confidential personal message (CPM). Record a CPM in Mailbox 2 or 3 and allow only specific friends, family members, or business associates to access the message by giving them the code. Instruct special callers to enter

2 or 3 to hear the CPM. The outgoing message for Mailbox 2 or 3 will play. All other callers will hear the outgoing message for Mailbox 1 only.

To prevent unauthorized callers from accessing the CPM, do not announce the confidential personal memo codes ( *2 or *3) in outgoing message 1.
