When you enter either of these password commands with the level option, you define a password for a specific privilege level. After you specify the level and set a password, give the password only to the users who need to have access at this level. Use the privilege level configuration command to specify commands accessible at various levels.

Configuring FastEthernet1 Port
The supervisor includes an out of band management Ethernet port on the front panel known as “fa1”. This FastEthernet port on the management supervisor is enabled using the following command in the ROMMON mode:
fa1Enable=1
This enables the management port after reload. When the interface is enabled, it is available via Cisco IOS.

To disable this port, fa1Enable should be set to zero in the ROMMON mode.
Caution The FastEthernet port is not intended for heavy traffic load. The “fa1” port is directly connected to the Central Processing Unit (CPU) and hence, the traffic on this port adversely affects the CPU’s performance.
