H 3.5 Media Width Adjustments
CAUTION Ensure the pr int head a djustments are made cor rectly
according t o the type of media (th ickness & wi dth).
Incorrect ad justments can cause f ailure of the print
head.
Adjustments may be needed if paper with different width is used. Print
darkness is aff ected by the amo unt of pressur e on the print hea d so it must
be adjusted with the head pressure adjustment screw if necessary.
The pressure on the right side of the print head, viewed from the front panel,
is adjusted by turning the head pressure adjustment screw. Turning the
screw clockw ise decreas es the pr essure, and turning t he screw
counterclockwise increases the pressure.
Normally, the pres sure on the lef t and right sid es of the print he ad has
already been adjusted to equal loads at the factory. The check marks are
located under the upper frame window.
Adjustments are needed i n the foll owing cases :
1) When print on the left side is too light, turn the head pressure adjustment
screw clockw ise.
2) When print on the righ t side is to o light, t urn the head pressure
adjustment screw counterclockwise.
3) When paper of smaller width is us ed:
In this case, t he contact between th e print hea d and the pl aten becom es
large, so the motor will have a heavy load and the print head may scrape
the platen. To avoid th is, turn t he head pres sure adj ustment sc rew
clockwise to decrease the pressure on the right side of the print head.
