SetDCS Privacy Codes
Toselect a DCS privacy code:
1.After selecting a channel, press the Mode
buttonuntil the DCS icon appears and the
smallnumbers flash on the display
(01through 83).
NOTE
IfCTCSS is turned on at the channel
selected,the display will flash the
DCSicon and “OFF.” To switch from
CTCSSto DCS, press the Channel Up
orChannel Down button while the
displayis flashing “OFF.” The display
willthen show the small numbers
flashingand you will then be able
toproceed to step 2.
2.Press the Channel Up or Channel Down
buttonto select a DCS privacy code. You can
holdthe Channel Up or Channel Down button
forfast advance.
3.When your desired DCS privacy code is
displayed,choose one of the following:
a.Press the Mode button to enter the new
settingand proceed to other functions.
b.Press the Lock/Enter button to enter the
newsetting and return to Standby mode.
c.Do not press any buttons for 15 seconds
toenter the new setting and return to
Standbymode.
NOAA*All HazardsRadio Channels
Youcan use your microTALK®radio to listen to NOAA All Hazards
Radiochannels transmitting in your area.
Tolisten to All Hazards Radio channels:
1.Press the Mode button until the WX (All
HazardsRadio) icon, the currently selected All
HazardsRadio channel, and signal strength
aredisplayed.
2.Use the Channel Up or Channel Down button
tochange All Hazards Radio channels.
3.WX (All Hazards Radio) icon will continue to
bedisplayed when All Hazards Radio is on.
Chooseone of the following:
a.Press the Mode button to proceed
toother functions.
b.Press the Lock/Enter button to exit All
HazardsRadio channels mode and return
toStandby mode.

Yourrange will vary depending on terrain and conditions.
Inflat, open country your radio will
operateat maximum range.
Buildingsand foliage in the path of the
signalcan reduce the range of the radio.
Densefoliage and hilly terrain will
furtherreduce the range of the radio.
OnFRS channels 8 through 14, your radio
automaticallyswitches to low power, which
willlimit the range the radio can communicate.
Remember,you can achieve maximum
rangeby using maximum range
extender.See page 6 for details.
