7.3.1.1 Architecture-Required Environment Variables

The following table shows common Alpha SRM Console architecture-required environment variables and their descriptions. For a complete list, enter show * at the Alpha SRM Console prompt.

Variable

auto_action

When used with the set or show command, this

 

variable modifies or displays the console action

 

that follows an error, halt, or power-up. The

 

action can be halt, boot, or restart. The default is

 

halt.

boot_file

When used with the set or show command, this

 

variable modifies or displays the file name to be

 

used when a bootstrap requires a file name. The

 

default is null.

boot_osflags

When used with the set or show command, this

 

variable modifies or displays the additional

 

parameters to be passed to system software. The

 

default is 0.

bootdef_dev

When used with the set or show command, this

 

variable modifies or displays the default device

 

or device list from which the system will attempt

 

to boot. If the system software is preloaded, the

 

variable is preset to point to the device containing

 

the preloaded software. The default is null.
