Q. Why is my Notebook slow when not on the network or when coming out of Hibernation mode?

A. If the internal Ethernet hardware (network card) is set up to connect to a network, Windows tries to access the network through the Ethernet hardware. If a connection does not exist, then start-up is delayed or loss of functionality can occur. One way to overcome these problems is to use the Hardware Profile feature of Windows. This feature allows you to create two different Hardware Profiles that are selectable upon start-up: one with the internal Ethernet hardware enabled, and one with the internal Ethernet hardware disabled.

A. Right-click on the Windows desktop and select Properties. The following dialog box is displayed:
