Travel Guidelines

For safety and convenience when traveling with your iPAQ H3000, follow these guide- lines:

Back up your data before you leave.

Take a backup copy of your data with you.

Disconnect all external equipment from your iPAQ.

Take the AC adapter and new batteries with you.

Hand-carry your iPAQ in a protective case. Do not check it with your luggage.

Be aware of potential effects of airport security devices on your iPAQ H3000.

There are three types of airport security devices: X-ray machines, magnetic detec- tors (the device you walk through), and security magnetic wands. You can send your device through airport X-ray machines. However, Compaq recommends that you do not send your iPAQ through magnetic detectors or expose it to security magnetic wands.

Check with the airline if you plan to use your iPAQ on the plane. In-flight use of elec- tronic devices is at the discretion of the airline.

International Travel

Before traveling internationally with your iPAQ H3000, be sure to:

Check local customs regulations.

If using an external modem or CompactFlash/PCMCIA card modem, be sure to have the correct modem and cable for the country you are visiting. Telephone lines differ from country to country.

Shipping Guidelines

When shipping your iPAQ H3000, follow these guidelines:

Safeguard your data by making a backup copy.

If shipping the backup copy, be sure that the medium (diskette, tape, or CompactFlash card) is not exposed to electrical or magnetic impulses while stored or in transit.

Turn off your iPAQ and disconnect all external devices.

Pack your iPAQ and all external devices (such as the cradle, cords, and cables) in their original packing boxes or in similar packaging with sufficient packing material to pro- tect them.
