shouldany electrical component fall to perform properly: ALWAYS shut offthe
powerswitchandremove the saw plugfrom the powersource andhave the missing,
damagedor failed partsreplaced BEFORE resuming operation.
2.Tool service must be performed only at a Sears Parts and Repair Center.
Serviceor maintenanceperformedby unqualifiedpersonnelcouldresurtina risk of

SAFETY RULES FOR SAWS

second hand on the auxiliary handle or motor housing. If bothhands are I
holding the saw, they cannot be cut by the blades.
1. ALWAYS keep your body positioned to either side of the saw blades, butnot
inline with the saw blades.
2. DO NOT reach underneath the work. The guardcannot protectyoufrom the
bladesbeneath thework.
3. ALWAYS check guard for proper closing BEFORE each use. DO NOT operate
the saw if the guard does not movefreely and close instantly. Neverclamp or
tiethe blade guard In the open position. Ifthe sawis accidentallydropped,the
guardmay be bent. Raise the guardand make sure that it movesfreely and does
nottouch theblades orany otherpart.
4. ALWAYS checkthe operation and condition of the guard spring. Ifthe guard
and the springare not operating properly,they MUST be serviced before use,
The blade guard may operatesluggishly,dueto damaged parts, gummy deposits,
ora buildupof debris.
5. The guard should be retracted manually ONLY for making special cuts, such
as pocket or compound cuts. ALWAYS raise the guard by retracting the
handle. Assoon as the blade enters the material,the guard MUST be
released. Forall other sawing,the guard shouldoperateautomatically.
6. ALWAYS make sure that the guard Is covering the blades BEFORE placing the
saw down on a work bench or floor. An unprotectedmoving bladeswillcause the
sawto walk backwards,cuttingwhateveris in itspath. Make note ofthe time it takes
forthe blades tostop spinningafterthe switchisreleased.
7. NEVER hold the piece being cutIn your hands or across your legs.It is
important tosupportthe workproperly inorderto minimize bodyexposure,blade
binding, orlossof control
g. ALWAYS hold tool by Insulated gripping surfaces when performing an
operation where thecutting tool may contact hiddenwiring or Itsown cord.
Contactwitha 'live" wirewill make the exposed meta]parts of thetool "live" and
shocktheoperator.
9. DO NOT leave the saw runningwhen carrying It In your hand.The lowerblade
guard may beopened by contact with your clothing. Accidentalcontactwiththe
spinningsawbladescould result inseriouspersonalinjury.
10.DO NOT use the tool If the switch does notturn "On" or "Off". Anytoolthat
cannotbe controlledwiththeswitchis dangerousand must be repaired.
