STARTING THE ENGINE DRiViNG THE TRACTOR
Donotoperatethe tractorif theinterlocksystemismalfunctioning.
Thissystemwasdesignedforyour safetyand protection.
NOTE: Refertothe GasolineandOil fill-upinstructionsearlierinthis
section.
1. Insertthetractor keyintothe ignitionswitch.
2. PlacethePTO (BladeEngage)leverinthe disengaged(OFF)
position.
3. Engagethetractor'sparkingbrake.
4. Activatethechokecontrolby movingthethrottle/chokeleverall
thewayup intothe chokeposition.
5. Turntheignitionkey clockwisetotheSTARTposition.Afterthe
enginestarts,releasethekey.It will returntothe ON (or Normal
Mowing)position.
DO NOTholdthe keyinthe STARTpositionforlongerthan ten
secondsata time.Doingso maycause damagetoyourengine's
electricstarter.
6. Aftertheengine starts,deactivatethechokecontroland placethe
throttlecontrolinthe FASTposition.
NOTE: Do NOTleavethechokecontrol on whileoperatingthe tractor.
Doingsowill resultin a "rich" fuel mixtureand causethe engineto run
poorly.
STOPPING THE ENGINE
Ifyou strikea foreignobject,stopthe engine,disconnectthespark
plugwire(s)andgroundagainstthe engine.Thoroughlyinspectthe
machineforanydamage.Repairthedamagebeforerestartingand
operating
1. Ifthe bladesareengaged,placethe PTO(Blade Engage)leverin
thedisengaged(OFF)position.
2. Turntheignitionkey counterclockwisetothe STOPposition.
3. Removethekeyfrom theignitionswitchto preventunintended
starting.
Avoidsuddenstarts,excessivespeedandsuddenstops.
Donotleavethe seat of the tractorwithoutfirst placingthePTO
(BladeEngage)leverin thedisengaged(OFF)position,depressing
thebrakepedaland engagingthe parkingbrake.Ifleavingthe tractor
unattended,alsoturntheignition keyoff andremovethe key.
Alwayslookdownand behindbeforeandwhile backingup to avoida
back-overaccident.
1. Depresstheclutch-brakepedaltoreleasethe parkingbrakeand
thenletthe pedalup.
2. Movethethrottle leverintothe FAST(rabbit)position.
3. Placethe shiftlever ineitherthe FORWARDorREVERSE
position.
IMPORTANT: Do NOTuse the shiftleverto change thedirectionof
travelwhenthetractor is in motion.Alwaysusethe clutch-brakepedal
to bringthetractor toa completestopbeforeshifting.
4. Graduallybeginto applypressuretothe drivepedal.Thefurther
downthepedal is pushed,thefaster the tractorwilltravel in the
desireddirectionbasedonthe positionofthe shift lever.
5. Thelawn tractoris broughtto a stop by releasingthedrive pedal
andthen depressingthe brakepedal.
WARNING!Beforeleavingtheoperator'spositionforany reason,
disengagetheblades,placethe shiftleverin neutral,engagethe
parkingbrake,shutengineoff and removethekey.
WHEN stoppingthetractorforany reasonwhileon a grasssurface,
always:
1. Placetheshift leverinneutral,
2. Engagetheparkingbrake,
3. Shutengineoff and removethe key.Doingso will minimizethe
possibilityofhavingyour lawn"browned"byhot exhaustfrom
yourtractor'srunningengine.
