Shutthe engineoff andremoveignitionkeybeforeremovingthe cuttingblade(s)for sharpeningor replacement.Protectyourhands usingheavygloveswhengraspingthe blade.
Periodicallyinspectthe bladeand/orspindlefor cracksordamage, especiallyafter you'vestrucka foreignobject.Do notoperatethe machineuntil damagedcomponentsarereplaced.
To removethe blades,proceedas follows:
1.Removethe deckfrombeneaththe tractor,(referto CuttingDeck Removalearlierin thissection)then gentlyflip the deckoverto exposeits underside.
2.Placea blockof woodbetweenthe centerdeckhousingbaffle andthe cuttingbladeto actas a stabilizer.See Figure17.
