You can install both EIDE and SCSI hard-disk drives in Dell Precision 410 sys-
tems. Desktop systems have five drive bays. Mini tower systems have eight
drive bays.

Dell Precision 410 desktop systems have five drive bays for installing the fol-
lowing types of drives (see Figure 1-8):
T he externally accessi ble dr i v e bays at th e front of t he computer consist of
one 3.5-inch drive bay (dedicated to a 3.5-in ch diskette driv e) and two
5.25-inch drive bays that can hol d up to two half-height, 5.25-inch
devices—typically tape drives or CD-ROM drives. Alternately, 3.5-inch
de vices can be ins talled in the 5.25- inch bay s using adapters a v ail able from
Dell.
NOTE: Because of the length of the bay, you can only install tape backup
units or ZIP dri ves in the lower 5.25-inch ba y. You can install a CD-ROM
only in the top 5.25-inch bay.
T he two -ba y hard-dis k drive cage ne xt to the accessible bay s can ho ld up to
two 1.6-inch hard-disk drives installed vertically. The drives must be either
EIDE hard-di sk drives or SCSI hard-disk drives.
