De vices within or connected to the computer may require dedicated memory
spaces, interrupt levels, or DMA channels, all of which must be allocated dur-
ing installation of the de vices. Because devices may be installed at different
times, it is possibl e that the same resource is assigned to two or more
devices.
R esource conf licts ca n result in disorde rly or er rati c sy stem operat ion or f a ilure
of the system to operate at all. If you suspect that resource conflicts might
e xist, check the system using the Windows 95 Device Manager or the IS A
Configuration Utilit y (ICU), and reassign the resources as necessary. See
Advanced Expansion Subsystem” in Chapter 1 for information on the Device
Manager and the ICU. See “Interrupt Request Assignments” in
Chapter 1 to help ident ify possible conflicts. Also review the documentation
provided with any installed expansion cards and other devices for additional
inte rrupt informa tion fo r the specific devices.
